OUR CONSULTING APPROACH

Consultancy approaches differ from one firm to another. Peter Block (author of “Flawless Consulting – 2000) has identified three different approaches to doing so:

• The “Pair of Hands” consultant as an employee in the organisation
• The “Expert” consultant as an advisor. Provides specialist advice
• The “Collaborative Approach” the consultant works with the client to build client confidence and capabilities within the consulting project         

Our preferred approach is the collaborative approach. This approach provides several key benefits for the client:

• The client’s project team learn new skills and develop confidence
• The client team learn how to solve problems, but with the advice and support of the consulting team
• Once the project has closed, the client team will be able to fully use the tools and resources developed through the project

COLLABORATIVE CONSULTING APPROACH

Our aim in our work is to build long term, mutually rewarding relationships with clients. We utilize the “collaborative” approach to consulting, rather than simply working as an additional team of employees or as a remote expert dispensing advice. Collaboration for us means working with the client to diagnose the current situation, co-designing the intervention / approach, co-delivering the solution and transferring new skills and knowledge to the client.
